Patients should ONLY be sent directly to A&E if they have a problem which is immediately sight-threatening or life-threatening AND you are unable to get through to the on-call eye doctor via switchboard, having tried more than once
Luton CCG have requested that we stop using Fax machines as a mode for receiving referrals. Henceforth, please:
ROUTINE
1. Send your normal GOS18/Referrals via
(i) nhs.net email to ldophthalmology@nhs.net; OR
(ii) post to "Clinic Clerks’ Office, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Lewsey Road, Luton LU4 0DZ"
2. Send any "direct-access Cataract referrals" (if you are accredited on the cataract shared-care pathway) via
(i) nhs.net email to ldh-tr.ldcataractreferrals@nhs.net; OR
(ii) post to: "FAO: Akil Kanani, Lead Optometrist, Eye Department, Ophthalmology, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Lewsey Road, Luton LU4 0DZ"
